We are only two days away from kicking off the 2021 season and wanted to sent share some information regarding the Covid rules and regulations.
As you probably know, we still remain under some public health guidelines from the provincial government and also Softball Alberta. While it feels like we are more and more back to normal and this weekend will be big part of that, we want to make sure that everybody is doing everything they can to continue to adhere to the rules and guidelines.
A few key points:
A maximum of 150 participants and spectators are allowed at one diamond. We do not anticipate coming up against this number, but in the event we do, teams will be asked to have spectators leave the diamond on a equal basis in order to remain in compliance.
Each team will provide and use their own game balls. Each team should have at least one new and two lightly used game balls for their team to be used at each game. At the conclusion of an inning, balls will be taken by the defensive team back to their bench and new balls will be brought in by their opponent. Foul balls should be returned to the dugout of the defensive team and balls should be sanitized upon return as well as regularly throughout the game.
There are no covered/enclosed dugouts at the diamonds this weekend but we still encourage players and coaches to maintain social distancing whenever possible and to wear a mask when not socially distanced.
At the conclusion of games, teams are not to do the usual 3 cheers and hand shake line. We ask teams to please give a quick wipe/spray down of their bench area upon arriving and also before departing a diamond.
Additional Softball Alberta guidelines will remain in effect and can be reviewed here:
